Frequently asked questions.

Where are you based ?

Studio and fulltime residence is in Mermaid, PEI. This is about 10 minutes out of Charlottetown. During the months of October-May this is where I’ll be traveling from. During the other months May-September I will spend a majority of the time in Western Prince Edward Island. I do my best to book sessions on where I believe I will be to avoid charging a travel fee.

What time do you take outdoor sessions?

I prefer shooting 90 minutes before SUNSET or 90 minutes after SUNRISE. When booking a session I use a sunset “calculator” to get a rough start time. I try to make people aware of this when you’re booking. Don’t forget that the sun sets after 9pm in July here on the island and if you’re booking a family session you may have to adjust bedtime routine for that day- I have two children and I know how important bedtime is but if you want those warm rich tones 8pm is when Golden hour starts during the summer months .

What happens if it rains?

A decision will be made by 12pm/ NOON of the photo session day. I will use weather predictions from a reputable website. We will reschedule and the non refundable retainer will just be used for that new date. We must pick a new date within 24hours.

How do you deliver the gallery?

The most popular choice is digital download. Please tell me if you have access to an computer. I am sure you can save some of the photos to your phone but since I give such a large gallery with larger high resolution photos it is best to save to a computer, and I also suggest saving to an external device. If you choose the digital download route DOWNLOAD the photos within the timeframe agreed upon, failure to do so will result in the link being expired and being charged a data recovery fee- Please refer to the contract, I only save photos for a few months so download them ASAP. If you do not have a computer I will put them on a USB drive. You are responsible to pick it up. If anything needs to be mailed, client is responsible for mailing fee.

Where do you suggest we take photos?

I always love trying new locations. I travel all over Prince Edward Island. If you have a location that is special to you, we can go there. If you want me to decide depending on the time of year I have tons of location ideas all over the island. We will fine tune the details with your questionnaire answers and depending on the look you are going for e.g.,) beach, field, city. I have several samples for each.

How far along should I be for maternity photos?

I always suggest 30-36weeks. It really depends on how you feel. I know I could barely move coming on the end of both pregnancies and sometimes we walk around during the session and I don’t want you to be uncomfortable.

When do you suggest newborn photos be taken?

If you want the baby to be sleepy in most of the photos, I would say before 2 weeks. Since I do mostly lifestyle type sessions where you are interacting with the baby I say it’s never too late. I’ve taken photos of 3 month old babies according to their “schedules” and I was able to get sleepy baby photos. I don’t want you to feel rushed or panicked with a “deadline” I want you to enjoy the experience.

What happens if someone is under the weather?

Please let me know 24 hours before the session, especially if I am traveling. We will reschedule. Let’s be honest here, nobody wants to be photographed when they’re sick. I would rather everyone be top notch for the session. I understand people get sick I’m a mom and I once worked in healthcare.
